Whether you're a beginner sewer and want to test the crafty waters, an old hat with an odd bit of fabric you'd like to use up or just curious to discover what you can make with one square yard, then this book is for you. Lena Santana has devised 15 simple, beautifully made projects from one piece of fabric. There's no need to worry about buying new fabric - this eco-friendly selection will ensure that you'll have all the help you need to use up those so-loved leftovers. The stylish ideas range from a Gathered Skirt and a Ruffle Collar to a Table Mat and a Bikini. It's as easy as it sounds (15,000 words). Other titles in the series include "One Ball of Wool", "One Piece of Paper" and "One Block of Wood".

About the Author:

Lena Santana's has a diverse background, she was born in Salvador (Brazil), studied fashion design in London and lived in Rio de Janeiro and this cosmopolitan history is reflected in her designs. After graduating from The University College for Creative Arts, she was invited to show her collection at the prestigious Rio Fashion Week as an up and coming fashion designer. Her new collection harks back to her first in which she recycled fabrics from the 1950's and 60's using geometric forms and different fabrics for each design. Her fascination with the technique behind the tailoring and the structure of dress-making began whilst working as costume designer. The innovative and dramatic use of materials within her creations is inspired by this field of design. Lena envisions her clients playing with the clothes she creates, adapting them to fit their mood, in a playful-flirtatious way.
